site visit Sat 16th Oct. Finglas

Hi,

Below I have posted an email from the AAI about a site visit to the construction site of the New Bord Gais Network Services centre in Finglas. The site is located along the M50 in an industrial commercial zone. It is part of an edge city condition part of the city that is still looking for a credible urban identity and as suych very much part of the group's focus. There is some more detail on theBorg Gais web site: http://www.bordgais.ie/networks/nscfinglas

I think the size of the project is not disinteresting (approx 5,000 sq. metres)- if only to start thinking about the size of the building you might like to get your teeth into.

I am planning to head out there if any of you can make it and want a lift.

Site Visit 16/10

Bord Gais – Networks Services Centre, Finglas

Denis Byrne Architects

We would like to remind all that the PPE will have to include safety glasses and gloves. The contractor will have some spares but can’t provide these for everybody. We apologise for this omission in the first email.

A 15min site induction on H&S will be provided by the contractor at 11.15am sharp and access to the site will require both full PPE and the induction. Unfortunately late arrivals will therefore not get access.

The main focus will be the currently ongoing pours of the first floor slab with associated cast in services, void formers and pipework of the active slab heating and cooling. Access to first floor level is only by ladder.

Site Visit Schedule:

11.00am – Site induction by Walls

11.15am – Short presentation on design by DBA followed by a presentation on construction methods by Walls Construction.

11.45am – Site Visit (ca 30min)
